Bio:

Daan Luining is a Dutch molecular biologist and a prominent figure in the field of cellular agriculture, particularly known for his contributions to cultivated meat technology. He co-founded Meatable in 2018, a company dedicated to producing cultivated meat.

Before establishing Meatable, Luining was part of the team at Maastricht University that developed the world’s first lab-grown hamburger in 2013. He also worked with New Harvest, a non-profit organization that funds research in cellular agriculture, where he helped develop their fellowship program supporting researchers worldwide.

At Meatable, Luining serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), overseeing technological initiatives to scale up the production of cultivated meat. The company utilizes proprietary opti-ox technology and pluripotent stem cells to produce meat efficiently, aiming to achieve price parity with traditional meat products in the near future.

Luining’s work has been instrumental in advancing the field of cultivated meat, contributing to the development of sustainable and ethical alternatives to conventional meat production.
